Accountant II

Position Description:
At a Glance Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Accountant II to join the Data, Power & Control Division in Somerset, NJ, or West Hartford, CT.
The Accountant II will provide support to the Finance Department to meet internal (Legrand) and external (tax/external audits) reporting requirements.
Responsible for assisting with the review of financial statements, Journal entries, G/L account reconciliations, tax, and external auditor reporting.
Mid-level accounting professional responsible for contributing to the completeness of financial statements, following internal controls requirements, supporting FP&A and finance operations teams, as well as support the shared services function.
Main Job Duties:
Perform monthly journal entries and reconcile General Ledger accounts (e.
g.
prepaid, deferred revenue, accruals, AR account reconciliation, fixed assets) Run various processes and reports during the month-end close process (e.
g.
currency restatements, preparing P&L & trial balances) File multi states sales and use tax returns as well as VAT tax returns.
Assist with annual tax reporting package provided to LNA tax used to prepare annual income tax returns.
Assist with budget reporting & external audits.
Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting as required Maintain knowledge of IFRS, SOX Internal Controls, and other relevant accounting & tax regulations.
Performs other similar and related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education:
BA degree in Accounting
Experience:
Minimum 3 years experience Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail, and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities.
Requires close attention to detail, ability to audit work to identify issues and implement processes to prevent errors.
Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends and establish proactive corrective actions.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite:
Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, and experience with accounting software is essential.
Company-specific accounting and finance software and systems are a plus (SAP, Planful, Esker).
Demonstrated ability to create effective reports, presentations, and business correspondence.
Must be able to communicate effectively both in written format and oral presentation and to give and receive detailed/complex and sensitive information, and process that information appropriately.
A team player mentality is required.
Must have solid business acumen and understanding of a variety of functional areas within the business.
